Ballet Review
August Tye is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Hyde Park School of Dance (1993) and Tyego Dance Project (1997). Tye began her training in Michigan with Therese Bullard and the Kalamazoo Ballet. Tye is a two time recipient of the Monticello Young Choreographers Award through Regional Dance America. Tye graduated from Western Michigan University with a BFA in 1990. In 1992 Tye moved to Chicago and continued her training with Joel Hall, Birute Barodicaite, Pamela Johnson Tanis and Nana Schineflug. Tye has served as the Ballet Mistress of the Lyric Opera of Chicago since 2005 where she has also choreographed most recently Carmen and the Un Ballo Masquerade in 2010. Upcoming engagements include traveling to the Canadian Opera Company to assist in the restaging of the choreography for Iphigenie, director Robert Carsen, choreographer Philippe Giraudeau, the Hyde Park School of Dance Nutcracker 2011 and LOC productions of Showboat, Aida and Rinaldo in 2012.
