Pre-Ballet

Trial Classes
If this is your child's first experience with dance classes you may want to sign up for a trial class before committing to a full session registration. Trial classes are permitted during the first five weeks of a 16-week session; the cost is $15. During the trial class you and the instructor can determine your child's readiness for class. The cost of trial classes is not refundable, but may be applied to tuition. Please contact the School if you wish to arrange for a trial class.

 

Pre-Ballet I - 4 to 5 years old
Class Length: 45 Minutes (recommended once a week)
An introduction to ballet and to musical awareness. Develop basic skills such as Demi Plié, Tendu, Ballet Skips, Walks and Runs, while exploring creative movement with images of dancing tigers and jumping frogs as inspiration. Pink leotard.

Pre-Ballet II - 5 to 6 years old
Class Length: 45 Minutes (recommended once a week)
Introduction to ballet, ballet terminology and musical rhythms using creative movement. White leotard.

Pre-Ballet III - 6 years & up
Class Length: 45 Minutes (recommended once a week)
Prerequisite: Pre-Ballet II for 6-year olds
An introduction to ballet, ballet terminology, and musical rhythms. Students are required to bring a small notebook and pen for taking notes. Black leotard.

Ballet

Ballet I - 7 years & up
Class Length: 1 Hour (recommended once a week)
Beginning ballet with an emphasis on posture and correct body placement. Students are required to bring a small notebook and pen for taking notes. Black leotard.

Ballet II - 8 years & up
Class Length: 1 Hour (recommended twice a week)
Prerequisite: Ballet I
Ballet II continues where Ballet I left off. Steps are more complex, students coordinate arm and leg movement. Students are required to bring a small notebook and pen for taking notes. Black leotard.

Ballet III - 9 years & up
Class Length: 1.5 Hours (recommended 3 times a week)
Prerequisite: Ballet II
Continues where Ballet II left off. Class begins with a 30-45 minute barre, working on strength, flexibility and intricate quick dance movements including demi-pointe work. After barre, students practice techniques learned in the center, working on adagio, stamina in jumps, and pirouettes. Later, students travel across the floor while incorporating turning exercises and leaps. Students are required to bring a small notebook and pen for taking notes. Black leotard.

Ballet IV (Pre Pointe/Beginning Pointe) - 11 years & up
Class Length: 1.5 Hours (recommended 3 to 4 times a week)
Prerequisite: Ballet III
Continues where Ballet III left off. Class begins with a 45-minute barre further developing the students' flexibility as well as intricate movements. Strengthening exercises in preparation for pointe work. Students are required to bring notebooks. Black leotard.

Ballet V (Elementary Pointe) - 13 years & up
Class Length: 1.5 Hours (recommended 3 to 4 times a week)
Prerequisite: Ballet IV
Continues where Ballet IV left off. Class begins with a 45-minute barre further developing the students flexibility as well as intricate movements. Pointe work may be given. Pointe shoes with instructor permission, and only after the student demonstrates appropriate physical conditioning and passes a written examination on ballet terminology. Students are required to bring notebooks. Royal Blue or Black leotard.

Ballet VI / Pointe - 14 years & up
Class Length: 1.5 Hours (recommended 4 to 5 times a week)
Prerequisite: Ballet V & Elementary Pointe
Continues where Ballet V left off, increasing complexity, stamina and memory recall. Point shoes may be worn for the entire class with the instructor's permission. Navy or Black leotard.

Pointe

Pointe Technique - 12 years & up
Class Length: 30 minutes
Prerequisite: Ballet IV and enrollment in at least 3 ballet classes. By Permission Only
Focuses on pointe technique and strengthening exercises. Black leotard.

Pointe Variations/Pointe Partnering - 14 years & up
Class Length: 30 minutes
Prerequisite: Ballet V
In the Pointe Variations class, students learn traditional variations from classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, etc. The Pointe Partnering class introduces dancers to "pas de deux" movements. Male and female students will work on basic turns and lifts. Must be strong on pointe and have instructor's permission to take the class. Leotard color is same as ballet level.
